Successful applicants must obtain a class B CDL permit with a P&S endorsement.


Trainees are required to complete the Kentucky State School Bus Driver Training Core Curriculum certification class.

(This class is provided on site at the HCS Transportation Department.) 


Once training is successfully completed and a CDL license is obtained, the applicant is placed in the pool of substitute bus drivers.

If hired, applicant must have a physical, TB risk assessment, drug screen ($20), state/national criminal background check ($51.25), a CAN check letter ($10) and complete an online safety training (free).
