BASIC FUNCTION:  Assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups typically in programs with exceptional children or equivalent programs; monitor and report student progress.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: Instructional Assistant II incumbents work within a complex program typically requiring additional skills and characterized by increased independence of action. Instructional Assistant I incumbents assist a certificated teacher by performing a variety of support functions in a regular classroom setting.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:  Must be at least 18 years of age and supply proof of:

A high school diploma and passed the Kentucky Paraeducator Assessment;

or completion of  a minimum of sixty (60) semester hours of study at an institution of higher education;

or an associate (or higher) degree. 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Also requires a physical exam, TB risk assessment, CAN check ($10), state/national criminal background check ($33.25) and drug screen ($20). 181 days; 7.25 hours per day; and Paygrade 19.

This is a grant-funded position and is only guaranteed for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year.
